Elmhurst is a Peaceful & Beautiful Place

Families and friends come to visit or spend a few moments remembering someone special. Because of the natural beauty of a cemetery with its grass, trees and flowers, it serves as a sanctuary where people can go to reflect, contemplate, and sit with nature. Cemeteries are considered sacred grounds. We ask that you respect our rules and regulations when visiting our cemetery.

Special Care Services

Lot owners at Elmhurst Cemetery have the opportunity to make a donation to the Special Care Fund. This fund ensures that flowers are planted at the grave from May through the end of September and a Christmas wreath placed on the grave during the months of November through February.

More information regarding participating in this program may be obtained by contacting the planning staff.

Our History

Elmhurst Cemetery, named for the 760 elm trees that once graced it’s narrow lanes, was established in 1858, the same year that Minnesota became a state. We are one of St. Paul’s oldest cemeteries.
